Art deco a jeho vliv na současný nábytkový design

The bachelor thesis deals with the art deco style. It describes the main characteristics, sources of inspiration, famous works or artists, but also the technologies used in this period. The whole work is accompanied by pictures so that the reader can create a comprehensive picture. The thesis focus on technologies, both the original ones used at the beginning of the 20th century, but also the modern technologies and their possibility to use the traditional Art Deco style furniture designs. It is demonstrated in the practical part.

The flows and major manufacturers belonging to Czechoslovakia 1918-1939 are compiled by literally research form. From the pictorial documentation is possible to make an idea how the interiors and the equipment of apartements could look like almost one hundred years ago. In the last part of the thesis there are described the most distinctive current companies in Czech republic which are focused on furniture from the fisrt republic of Czechoslovakia. These companies make copies, restore or continue in the tradition of production.

PhDr. Jana Kybalová, CSc. 2014 ABSTRACT Highly regarded throughout the world, Bohemian glass is also acknowledged as a cultural phenomenon in its own right and the Harrach glassworks in Nový Svět in Krkonoše indisputably ranks among the most accomplished companies that have had a determining influence on the world renown of Czech glassmaking. First documented in the early 18th century, the glassworks has been in existence for three hundred years. However, its prominent status among Bohemian producers of glass is not only due to its long history. What makes it noteworthy is its traditionally outstanding craftsmanship and technological facilities, and mainly its foresighted efforts to employ and further enhance diverse techniques in working with crystal and coloured glass.
